Preventative Maintenance

Club Members Get Priority Benefits

We all know our cars need regular maintenance like an oil change or tire rotation. But did you know your roof needs maintenance as well? You are not alone if you answered “no”.

For many people, their home is their most valuable asset but most people don’t think about doing preventative maintenance on their roof to protect their house. Having your roof regularly maintained is critical to protecting your roof investment.

Ridge Roof Restoration has been repairing, replacing, and maintaining roofs for satisfied customers in the Upstate for years!

What is preventative roof maintenance? Roof maintenance is the periodical checking of all the vulnerable areas
on a roof that could be susceptible to having a problem. At a minimum, preventative maintenance should be done on your roof annually and in some cases bi-annually depending on the roof.

We Go Above & Beyond

Below is a list of 6 of the most common ways your contractor maintains your roof:

Check Pipe Boots for Cracks & Wear

Cracked pipe boots are the most common reason for roof leaks.
The gasket around a plumbing vent stack is most likely to crack and create an area for water intrusion.

Remove Debris from the Roof, Valleys, and Gutters

Common debris such as leaves and sticks left on your roof can create a dam that causes water to back up under the shingles that can lead to leaks.

Inspect the Roof for Animal Intrusion

The attic in your home is the perfect safe home for many small animals which can cause all sorts of problems down the road.

Inspect Ventilation for Properly Working Fans or Turbines

We check for any obstructions in ridge vents and inspect fans or turbines: If condensation isn't vented out of your attic, it will dissolve the adhesives in the plywood decking and can lead to wood rot which can be very expensive to fix.

Inspect Loose or Missing Caulke and All Flashings

Caulking is essential to keeping exposed nail heads metal flashing in brick walls and chimneys watertight.

Inspect All Valleys

Valleys are the second biggest reason for leaks. It is an area where shingles have been laced together or cut down the middle. This makes it very prone to water intrusion.

The complete list of roof maintenance items could go on but these are the 6 most important roof maintenance
must do's so that you get the most life out of your roof.
